Carl H. Mitchell developed a passion for storytelling at an early age. At nine years old, his first serious encounter with literature was The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo, followed soon after by The End of Eternity by Isaac Asimov and The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway works that firmly captured his imagination.

Born in California and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Lake Worth, Florida, Carl earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He spent thirty-five years at IBM, working as an engineer, programmer, and manager experience that now informs the technical authenticity of his fiction.

Carl and his wife, Maryann, now live full time in Tarpon Springs. Outside of writing, he enjoys downhill skiing and the keeping of koi more than one hundred of them having reached the conclusion that they may, in fact, own him.

Carl has written several short stories. His debut novel, Sundown: Engineering Gives the Devil a Sunburn, published by Covenant Books, blends police procedural storytelling with elements of science fiction, espionage, and dystopian speculation. He writes to entertain and to invite readers to think just a little deeper.
